If you have the opportunity and it seems appropriate, find some place where you can observe a group of children playing. You may want to sit in a park by a playground; or watch your own children, or those of a friend or family member playing; pause for a while after you drop your children at school, to watch them in the playground; or if you are attending a toddler group or nursery, stop and just watch for a period.
As you watch, ask God to help you see these children through the eyes of the Divine. What does God see in the children and in their play? Observe the way they use their bodies; listen to what they say and how they communicate with each other; notice how they interact with each other; ponder how they use their imaginations.
Let the images from this time stay with you during the day. Return to them. Ask the Holy One to speak to you, to highlight how what you have seen in these children can be reflected in who you are and how you respond to God and to others.
